The Dallas Mavericks are the hottest team in the NBA. The New Jersey Nets? They are the worst team in the league. Early on during Wednesday night’s contest, it appeared as the Nets were going to pull an epic upset. However, the Mavs were able to rally and beat the Nets by a final score of 96-87. The win was the Dallas’ 13th in a row. The Nets led by as many as 18 points in the first half but Jason Kidd had the Mavs fighting back....

Boy, Tron is old . That movie came out way back in 1982, and we’re finally getting a sequel in 2010. You can see how long it’s been if you count the wrinkles on Alan Bradley’s (Bruce Boxleitner) face. That’s Tron himself, but we’ve heard that he’s hardly in the movie. So what gives? Well, this one is all about Flynn’s (the now Oscar award-winning Jeff “The Dude” Bridges) son Sam searching...

What do Cerny Games’ Mark Cerny, Gas Powered Games’ Chris Taylor, Microsoft’s Corrinne Yu, and Obsidian’s Feargus Urquhart have in common, besides being game developers? Absolutely nothing. Yet, Square Enix managed to sit them down for an hour long roundtable discussion to talk about one thing: how awesome Final Fantasy (and Final Fantasy VII , in particular) is. To say it was awkward is a tremendous understatement. Certainly,...

SCEA is currently certifying a patch that should allow PlayStation 3 owners of Bad Company 2 to gain access to their VIP content , according to DICE . The patch will “hopefully” go live today in North America, with Europe following “shortly after.” Once patched, PS3 players will gain access to Nelson Bay (Rush) and Laguna Alta (Conquest) — along with the ability to access all future content. Xbox 360 owners have...

Professional level designer J.P. LeBreton’s creativity can’t just be contained by the BioShock franchise which his work has appeared in for the last three years. So, he recently exercised his craft in a fairly peculiar way — by designing a Doom 2 map modeled after the two areas on which he served as lead designer for 2K’s underseas adventure: Arcadia and the Farmer’s Market. You can download the map directly from...

I won’t bother to review Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II on iPhone in terms of the content of the games. Chances are, you’ve encountered at least the first Final Fantasy , or at the very least you have an idea of the kind of early turn-based RPG it is. ( Final Fantasy II , which never made it outside of Japan until 2002, is a bit of a different story. It’s old-school, but also really weird.) The gameplay is pure NES vintage,...

Eric Ruth, an independent developer who more than proved his prowess with Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead , recently showed off the fruits of his latest labor : A completely renovated, high-definition version of Mega Man 9 . Ruth managed to recreate every single character, enemy and background by hand, programmed the game, and used a number of fan-made remixes of the original game’s tracks. You can check out a video demonstration of Galaxy Man’s...

Signal Studios’ new game Toy Soldiers might sound like any other tower defense game at first glance, but it has art direction that will knock your socks off. It’s one thing to pit the Kaiser’s forces against the boys from England, but Toy Soliders turns them into little clockwork toys, full of cogs and springs. Combine that with addictively fun gameplay and Facebook integration and you have a winner. So worry not if you have...

Awhile back I gave online password manager, RoboForm a try. With my use of RoboForm I was also introduced to GoodSync . I’ve never spent a significant amount of time worrying about or using a piece of software to synchronize files between machines. Up until now. My initial thoughts with giving GoodSync a try was to accomplish a task that takes quite a bit of time to manage for a variety of my clients. I support over 60 different WordPress...

When I first saw this video, I scoffed and blew it off. The more I watch it however, it really is pretty cool. This nerd staged a level in Super Mario World to spell out “Will You Marry Me?”, to his unsuspecting girlfriend of five years. At first I thought it was staged, because she really didn’t act all that surprised or joyous. Perhaps, she was pissed at first that her game of Super Mario World was interrupted. I’ve made...
