Power Gig: Rise of the Six String director Jack Davis is back to tell us more about the story of the real-life guitar driven music game. It’s still not the most original thing we’ve ever seen — building a revolution against an oppressive regime isn’t new ground for video games by any means. But the new trailer tells us a bit more about the player characters in the game, two members of “Clan Rise” that each...

In honor of the recently concluded Comic-Con festivities, the Japanese Hardware Sales post has decided to indulge in a bit of cosplay, donning the vestaments of its favorite weekend-based Joystiq feature — other than itself, of course. Unfortunately, with only the most basic of Photoshop skills and having been forbidden from infringing on the territory of the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup , this is really the best he could do: “Welcome...

That rumor about Ice-T playing a role in Gears of War 3 ? Totally true. The man himself took the stage at tonight’s Gears of War 3 shindig in downtown LA, as indicated by Major Nelson on Twitter (and seen in the picture above, also care of Major’s tweet). Apparently, he’ll voice a character named Griffin, with Gears creator Cliff Bleszinski mentioning Ice “won’t stop telling everyone about his role as Griffin in...

Right when this post goes live on our site, the tropical, mysterious television series Lost should have just concluded its six-year run. We realize that for the next few weeks, that’s all that fans of the show are going to want to talk about. To preempt the takeover our site by such discussion, we’re turning the comments section of this post into your own personal soapbox, from which you can proclaim how disappointed/delighted you...

Super Mario Galaxy had one of the most delightful, transportive soundtracks of any game in the current console generation, with themes both new and familiar set to a sweeping orchestral score. To show off the sequel’s equally impressive accompaniment, a YouTube channel purportedly belonging to composer Mahito Yokota has uploaded every single track from Super Mario Galaxy 2 onto a single playlist. You can listen to it here , though the...

We understand the value of a good fan just as much as the next guy, whether said fan is reading our humble video game news site, or keeping us cool in the humid summer months. In Bizarre Creations’ arcadey racer Blur , they’re even more valuable, serving as the player’s main form of character progression. In addition, fans will offer a few bonuses which will pop up in the middle of each race, including Fan Runs , Fan Demands...

A recent EA Sports press release has announced that the developer’s upcoming hockey title, NHL 11 , will be the first game to feature the teams and players of all three divisions in the Canadian Hockey League. The CHL is a “development” league, featuring players between the ages of 16 and 20, many of which go on to play for major teams in the NHL. We might go so far as to call it NHL Jr., if we didn’t think every one...

Want to get a taste of Black Rock and Disney Interactive’s frequently exploding racer, Split/Second ? Provided you’ve got a beefy enough PC gaming rig, you can now download a demo for the game directly through our sister site, Big Download . The 1GB download includes the game’s tutorial, and a race event in the Airport Terminal track, which doesn’t seem particularly legal. Apparently, the world of Split/ Second is as...

There were a number of interesting features — complex characters, a dark, mature story that explored the seedy lives of criminals — in IO Interactive’s original Kane & Lynch , provided you could look past the broken gameplay and the subsequent review scandal . While the franchise’s name may be forever tarnished, that hasn’t stopped IO from developing a sequel, one that expands upon the best aspects of the original....
